A Note From the Superintendent

Today Nov. 14th our school cafeteria ladies cooked their famous Thanksgiving Dinner for students, parents and community members.  It may be my favorite Clayton tradition. They served well over 600 meals, delivering more than 100 around town. Another wonderful job.

I'm very proud of our high school basketball teams.  Both team records set at 5-0 about to go into Thanksgiving break.  We host Whitesboro at home on Thursday and we travel to Calera Friday.   I love watching these young folks represent our school in such a positive way.

Congratulations to our Academic team who won Districts a few weeks ago, taking third in Regionals last week which qualifies them for Area competition soon.  Best of luck on your way to State.  Proud of those Bulldogs.

Nov. 13 one of our neighboring school districts had a person arrested on or very near their school campus.  I talked to our police chief and because of a possible threat involving a person of interest here in town, we went to (what we call) a soft lockdown.  Nothing happened in Clayton and all our students were safe but we wanted to be sure and ready if a threat came our way.  To make sure everyone knows, we practice and plan for different types of emergencies at least  four times a year, always keeping in mind the safety of our students.

I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.  Enjoy the week with your family, hunting with your friends or trying to survive Black Friday.
